From The Beat: Don’t throw stones if you live in a glass house. We all have our faults, our weaknesses, so to throw stones at someone else for wanting to do the right thing is extremely unfortunate. This next writer describes how he stays determined even in the face of adversity. He’s writing as a counselor from unit 6 in Alameda County Juvenile Hall. We respect his opinion and thank him for using our pages to showcase them. Thank you.
I’m determined to succeed. There are no other choices. It’s either win or win. I’m willing to stand alone with my decision. I eat peer pressure, it doesn’t exist, it’s merely a weakness of the mind. Sometimes being driven to be good or great can be stoned. Meaning people pick up their thoughts from their gravel and throw those stones at people. My motto is to go out and be great.
